Who We Are
PAUL LEVAN - FOUNDER OF SUTHERLAND SCHOLARS
Mr. LeVan has been teaching Social Studies at Pittsford Sutherland High School for the past 20 years. During that time, he has taught AP European History, AP World History, AP World History: Modern, Global Studies 9 and 10, Economics, and Participation in Government. He currently runs the AP European History and AP World History: Modern programs at SHS and is a National Reader for the College Board. He has been traveling abroad personally and professionally since 1994, heading to destinations that include Europe, Asia, and Africa. Mr. LeVan created Sutherland Scholars for two key purposes: to facilitate overseas educational opportunities for students and families and to enhance classroom instruction by offering courses outside the school year. Since its founding, Sutherland Scholars has taken students and families through much of Eastern and Western Europe and has run summer courses for AP World History: Modern, AP U.S. History, and AP European History.
